On the 20th of November, 4:15 am, we the students of Chowgule College (the ones selected for the exchange programme) were awaiting with excitement for our Swedish guests! It was a chilly morning, but it didn’t bother us because our excitement negated it. The bus from the airport arrived at 4:50 am. The Swedes descended the bus and greeted us with immense joy. Each of us met our respective guest and took them home. After a tiring flight they took a very long nap and directly woke up for lunch. Around 4 pm, after lunch, we all met up again at Parvatibai Chowgule College for a Welcome Programme. There was a small interactive session for the Swedes and us, held at the canteen so that we’d acquaint ourselves with everyone, which was fun. Thereafter, we proceeded to the Quadrangle for the Welcome Programme. As they entered the Quad, they were amazed on seeing the beautiful décor which included sky lamps, art posters, diyas, and the rangoli, which fascinated them the most. The programme commenced with the Ganesh vandhana followed by a Bollywood dance, A Marathi song, a piece on the violin, a Hindi song, a Konkani song, spot prizes, and last but not the least, the Portuguese folk dance i.e. the Corodhino, which they loved. In the end we all danced it together. We then headed to the canteen for dinner, where they relished all the Indian dishes.
